Evergreen Community Education Workshop: Caring for Fruit and Nut Trees with The Roots Foundation

March 3, 2017

Justin and workshop attendees practice their new pruning skills on the apple trees in the Evergreen Peace Garden.

Justin Holt, Program Coordinator and Educator with The Roots Foundation, was our guest and teacher this past weekend in the Evergreen Peace Garden.  Justin, a member of the local Nutty Buddy Collective and passionate permaculturalist, shared his knowledge about basic care of fruit and nut trees. We then tried our hand at doing some pruning, with Justin nearby to guide us, on the apple trees in the garden.

This was the first of hopefully many workshops hosted by Evergreen's Environmental Education Program in partnership with local experts.  These workshops are an opportunity for our teachers, parents and extended community to learn useful, practical skills to enhance our collective abilities to grow food, support ecological biodiversity and restore our planet, while nuturing our Evergreen community by coming together and connecting in playful, meaningful ways.

Thanks Justin for sharing your expertise!  Thanks to the parents (and child!) who attended!
