Earth Day 2016 was truly an awesome day!
For those of you who joined us and shared your time, expertise and hard work, thank you. To all of our students and teachers who put their minds, hearts and bodies to work to learn and be stewards of our Earth, thank you. To the special folks, volunteers, staff and students, who helped to create and implement this day, thank you. Evergreen’s Earth Day event is truly a celebration of our community and our connection to this planet!

On Earth Day, We...
Beautified our campus with flowers, began the construction of an ozone garden and made seed “bombs” that were then planted around the garden
Scrubbed every single compost bucket and recycling bin on campus
Picked up litter all around our EL Trail, Field, Bell Road boundary and down to Haw Creek
Identified trees in our new Tree Monitoring plots and began collecting tree phenology data
Build nest boxes to be installed around our campus and monitored existing nest boxes
Sampled our woods for terrestrial invertebrates
Sampled our EL Trail stream ecosystem for terrestrial and aquatic salamanders
Created a Global Village Experience to share our knowledge about being a global citizen
Raised $500+ for Environmental Education programs through plant and t-shirt sales
Planned and implemented an Earth Day Community Circle & Community Picnic
Constructed a weather station to be set up and ready for ongoing weather monitoring for the 2016-17 school year
Educated our community about the environmental impacts of industrial animal agriculture
Built steps from the driveway to the ropes course
Planted 3 new trees
Built a new garden fence
Learned about wolves
Learned about reptiles
Took part in the Greenworks “Recycling Challenge”
