Nature has adapted to many situations so that it can survive. Some types of bugs like ladybugs and stink bugs will release a bitter tasting or bad smelling spray when they are threatened. They do this so their predators will not harm them. When I was younger I would catch ladybugs and they would spray my hands with disgusting spray. They were protecting themselves from their predators, which in this case was me. Trees have learned to lose their leaves in the winter. The leaves change from green to different shades of red, yellow, and brown, then fall from the trees. This is done so that ice and snow does not weigh down their branches. When trees lose their leaves in the winter they use less energy in their dormant stage. From bad smelling spray to falling leaves, nature has found its own way of surviving.
