Bill Murray and Recycling

A poem by Linda Ellis, The Dash, is about what happens between the years of our birth and death. Of course we are all still alive today and so we made a connection to the sixth grade. We talked about the 2014-2015 school year and asked what the students remembered about that year. Then we talked about the 2015-2016 school year and asked them what they wanted that year to be like. What did they want to change and what did they want to keep? We will revisit their list of what they want this year to look like as the year progresses in an effort to create the year they want. It's a great way for us to practice goal setting as a class culture.
