This week, Sarah introduced students to the Wheel of Awareness.  Author Dan Siegel writes about it in his many books.  Here is a link to the wheel and some audio podcasts that both explain the wheel and guide a meditation with the wheel.  I explained to the students how this could be done, but did not go through the mindfulness exercise with them, as it is lengthy.  We’ve been exploring, in mindfulness classes together, how we can get distracted by our thoughts, our sensory perceptions, our bodies, interactions with others, etc.  Mindfulness is a tool to actively decide which direction to extend our attention.  The Wheel of Awareness is another way to summarize this principle.
