"How glorious a greeting the sun gives the mountains!"  John Muir

It is so wonderful to start our days together with the Spring sunshine and cool air coming in through the windows and the anticipation of spending more time outdoors! We have started a new expedition, Our Plant Community. We will study plant parts and systems, how plants help our world, and how we can be good stewards to plant communities. We will be going on a hike and doing some activities at Coleman Boundary next Wednesday, April 13. We only have one bus, so we need car spots for 36 kids - please sign up here if you can join us! We will be departing school promptly at 8:45 and returning around 2:30. It is a moderate hike that includes a creek crossing, and chilly/wet weather is possible.

Looking ahead we see the school year speeding by with what feels like one event or trip after another! Please add events to your family calendar and join us as often as you can! Welook forward to our Boosterthon Pep-Rally on Monday, working in the garden with Marin, & showing our classrooms and campus to your families ands elders on Grandparents Day, the 15th. We will also be starting beautiful flower cards to sell for our annual fundraiser. We use funds to purchase native edibles which we gift to our campus and The Lord's Acre Community Garden in Fairview.

We are academic allstars and science wizs these days! In Math, we have taken our Perimeter & Area Assessment. They are ready to use their new skills to help you plan a room or a garden! We will start Time next week. We are already filling our Notecatchers with notes on plant structure, learning lots about plants and trees in our area, and enjoyedgreat science lessons from our Warren Wilson College guest teachers. Ask your child about their awesome Book Group reading and cool activities, and about their Personal Best Records in PE!

The Climbing Wall was intense, jubilant, and inspiring! We are so grateful to Ms. Jo and her mighty band of belayers: Ms. Mel, Ms. Cat, Mr. Eben and the parents of Ian, Gavin, Gaelen, & LilyAnn. It is such an empowering experience for the kids and fills us all to the brim for the Springtime push and toward the last of the school year.
